Reimagining pink

Every once in a while, a colour choice is made that changes the way we think about paint and reminds us that colour really is so much more than what you see on the walls – it’s about making dream homes a reality. For us, one of these colours has to be pink…

Colour is so inextricably linked to our moods, that one could say ‘colour is emotion’. Pink is undoubtedly a neutral (and was found to be the oldest colour in existence – so it really is timeless). I like to say it’s an amplified, enlightening neutral.” – Simply Colour Founder Meg Shave

It’s for this very reason that Simply Colour founder Meg decided to make a unique colour choice whilst giving her rental home a total revamp. The aim was to bring a brand-new feeling to this space – without spending an excessive amount of money. The result? A beautifully fresh and fabulous art deco style kitchen that does more than open up and refresh the space by turning it into something truly timeless.

Although for many the colour may stir up images of ballet shoes and bedrooms belonging to little girls, for Meg, shades of pink can offer so much more than that – they’re soft neutrals with limitless potential. Inspired by this, and the different ways that pink can be interpreted, she decided to do something a little different, opting for a combination of Simply Colour’s Light Pink (used on the cupboards) and Blush Pink (used on the walls).

I wanted the mood and energy of the kitchen to be reflected in the colours. It’s a space for cooking, creating and feeling adventurous – all of the aromas and happy memories of kitchens are reflected perfectly in Light Pink.

The result? An open, airy and fresh take on what could have been a simple and standard kitchen. Fresh pink cupboards are complemented with eye-catching art deco handles that give the look a more edgy feel. An ode to Simply Colour’s Blush Pink, Meg’s kitchen is a beautiful reminder of just how much fun colour can be, and how affordable updates can completely transform a space without spending too much.

Creating the perfect and most versatile shades of pink was very important to me as I’ve always believed pink is a neutral with endless possibilities – it just needs to be the right shade of pink.”
