Are our paints Solvent based or water based?
Simply Colour paints are all water based and have no added chemicals, making them more environmentally friendly, better for you and better for your home.

How do I store my leftover paint?
Preferably empty your leftover paint into smaller containers and secure the lids tightly. Place these in a cool, dry or shaded area for use later on.

Once opened, what is the shelf life of my paint?
If sealed correctly, the paint should last three months.

How do I dispose of my leftover paint?
Never pour paint down the drain. Instead, leave the paint tin out to dry in the sun. If there is too much paint left over, mix it with sand and leave it to dry, then dispose of it with household waste. If there is quite a lot of paint left over, donate it.

Does your paint have a warranty?
Yes. We’re totally confident in the quality of our paints which is why we offer up to a 10 year guarantee on our products. To find out more about
your product guarantee, email us on hello@simplycolour.co.za

What are VOCs?
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are gases which are emitted when you use certain products, like paint. These dangerous gases are inhaled by you, and pose a variety of health risks. That’s why we’ve removed as many of these as we can from our paint formula. This means that our paint is low odour and healthier for you, your home, and the environment.

What are the health and safety precautions I should know about your paints?
All of our paints are low in, or free of VOCs and lead-free too – meaning they’re healthier for you and your family. However the following are a few things to note about our paints: All of our paints should be kept out of reach from children. During application of the paint, ensure good ventilation in that space. Avoid contact with your eyes and skin. Should paint come into contact with your eyes, immediately rinse with water and seek medical attention. If accidental contact with skin occurs, immediately wash with soap and water. Paint is harmful if swallowed. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately.

About your projects.

What should I use the Trim paint for?
The trim paint is ideal for skirting boards, windowsills and doors because it’s tough Satin finish protects against marks and scuffs.

What paint can I use on my furniture?
The Trim paint is perfect for furniture projects because it is durable enough to stand up to everyday wear and tear.

Do I need to use primer before I paint?
You need primer when you’re painting surfaces like bare drywall, stained or repaired areas, bare wood and high-gloss finishes. Primer provides better adhesion and coverage of previous paint coats, irregular surfaces and surface stains. It should also be used if you’re changing the colour of your wall from very dark to very light, in order to save you from applying extra coats of paint.

What is the difference between a low sheen and matt paint?
Low sheen paint has a slight shine to its finish and therefore reflects more light. Matt has a more muted and subtler finish, with no shine. Matt paint will also disguise imperfections better too, which makes it ideal for your high-traffic areas.

Simply Colour stocks Matt paint for online purchases with Low Sheen available in our Shaves Stores. Please contact us at hello@simplycolour.co.za should you be looking for Low Sheen for online purchase.
